Yesterday's Junk Shop discovery got me thinking about a trip to Manchester.  I've never been, but based on the one person I know who grew up there, it's a pretty cool, artsy, hip place with a phenomenal club scene, some of the best DJs around, and Vinyl Exchange, the raddest analog paradise for DJs and purists.   And then there's shopping, food, culture.

That's all fine and good and I'm sure a lovely time is to be had -- but how about a good long soak in the tub at Great John Street Hotel (see photo below).  All right, all right, traveling to England for a soak in the tub is a waste of your good time, so get the low down on the hotels as well as fun to be had at MrandMrsSmith.com (bookmark this site to find boutique hotels in tyhe U.S., U.K., Ireland and around the world.)

Why isn't the Junk Shop in the U.S.?  No worries, they'll ship anywhere in the world, or maybe it's time to plan that trip to the U.K.  Oh yeah, the Junk Shop.  For you exceptionally creative, one-of-a-kind sylish types, Junk invites you not only to shop, but to invent, scheme, dream and fornicate.  No wait, not that last one.  Not in their recycled fairyland of furniture and furnishings.   But don't let that stop you, they are searching the world over for talent and you can send them photos of your own art, clothing, or jewelry designs.  Or stop by (more tomorrow on travel to Manchester)!

Tarantella Wedges

Happy Birthday to me!  I'm a bargain-hunter, but every once in a while I splurge and found myself blowing my cash on these tarantella wedges from Anthropologie.com.  No, a tarantella is not a spider cookie or arachnid-shaped potato; I dont' know what it means other than a great pair of shoes.  They are hip and stylish yet kick back to another time and place, a time when your once-wild grandmother traveled to Buenos Aires to dance until the wee hours, then slip away like a mystery.
